So how funny was Betty White on Saturday Night Live last night? I nearly died! Her jokes and stage presence would have been hilarious despite her age, but the fact that she was such a hilarious act at 88 *and a half!* is just too great. With all of the overwhelmingly sad and worrisome issues out there, this seemed kind of special to me, that someone in the August of her life would get such an honor. Best ratings SNL had in 18 months, too. Almost makes me hate NBC a little bit less in the post-Conan era...

She was great. I just love her ability to be this sweet, but crude LOL. |
OP here. Me too! My own grandma (a mere 86) is also kind of a sweet old lady / perv. So funny! We were driving on a road trip once, a few years ago, and some workers were literally laying pipe alongside the road. The laying pipe jokes lasted through two states. |
I loved her too! Way too much MacGruber stuff, though. |
That's b/c they are promoting the MacGruber movie that's coming out soon. |
I know. Still overkill. |
Her comic timing and delivery is just masterful. Even when the material was so-so, she elevated every scene she was in. She truly showed the other cast members how it is done. So inspiring. and what a looker, I could only dream of looking that fantastic at 88! |
Betty White rocks. |
Whereas Molly Shannon has to be the least funny person on television. WHY is she still working?? |
Hm -- OP here. I like Molly Shannon too. ![]() |
I am surprised you all still watch SNL. It hasn't been funny in years. |
I'm disappointed that I fell asleep after about half an hour, because I thought Betty White was great. Whoever started that campaign was absolutely right. |
Ugh. Really? The 2 minute skit is long enough I can't imagine watching a 90 minute movie. |
I don't see how the skit can be expanded into a movie. Isn't the only shtick that he has only seconds to defuse a bomb, then KABOOM? How many times are they going to repeat that in a feature-length film? What else is he good for? |
SNL sucks. I don't know whose ass Lorne Michaels is up, but his days should be counted on SNL. Betty White on the other hand, rocks! |
