Anyone know anything about Friendship Children's Center (formerly known as CCPCC)? Any information would help. Thanks. |
I have no personal experience with them, but have heard great things from other parents. We looked into the Center, but for many reasons, decided to go with a nanny. The director was very nice when we spoke. |
It's got a very good reputation but is really hard to get into. I was on the waiting list for a year and a half. We ended up in a nanny share with a nanny who we love, but got back on the waiting list for their pre-school program. Lisa Danahy, the Director, is really personable and knowledgable. They have new facilities, which should be really nice. |
Any feedback from parents whose children have gone there? Thanks very much! |

My daughter went there PT for a year when she was 2-3. Not a good match for her -- long/mandatory napping (she didn't nap), PT schedule (Tu/Th -- their decision, not ours) kept her from getting into their routine (and projects started one day were often finished the next, leaving her out of sync), and inflexible age groupings left her the eldest of a group of kid who weren't nearly as verbal as she was. All that said, other kids seemed happy there and I really appreciated how often the kids were out and about in the neighborhood.
If you live in ANC 3E, push hard to be placed at the top of the waitlist. The new facility was a PUD amenity and one condition of the award was priority admissions for neighborhood residents. CCPCC's facility was also obtained this way, but neighborhood preference requirement was rarely applied -- at least half the kids were from MD, while there was a yearlong waitlist which didn't differentiate between residents and non-residents. |
pp, a few questions:
-what was the napping schedule and requirement that did not work for you? -when you say they told you part-time, did they offer a PT slot but indicate maybe full-time would open up? (I am trying to figure out if we would get 'stuck' with PT) -can you give some examples of projects that your DD missed completing due to her every-other-day instead of consecutive days schedule. thx |
