Looks like it will take some time for us to get used to this change...

Yep. I think this way is better honestly but it will take a while to build up a user base that can consistently post signal as opposed to noise. It seems to work for socal soccer, it can work here.

I have to agree. That was the pull of this particular site. If you change the whole way people use something, it will affect a person's desire to come back. People are fickle and get bored quickly. Besides, many sites require log-in to talk and are much more robust, so what would be the difference between this or starting a Reddit forum. You have to log in either way, and the interface and application are much better. Either way, it seems like an experiment that will ultimately reduce the number of people on this forum. If that is the goal, fine, but I checked, and it seems none of the other forums have this restriction, and the topics in those are way over the top, so who knows.

I understand the rationale of requiring user names to prevent people intentionally spreading misinformation. That being said, it gives me pause about posting certain questions or concerns that I have, because I'm worried about people at my child's club (or clubs they are considering) figuring out who we are and tracing the comments back to us.

Just like the old explicit forum this will soon die.

Folks, if you don't want to talk about soccer, we can just remove this forum altogether. There is no reason to have a forum full of complaints about registration. I am going to lock this thread and remove future off-topic posts.
