| I hope its skim because that is what we have been doing since DS was 2. |
| I think the answers to this will be all over the place, so probably best to check with your pediatrician based on your child's history. My family has a history of high cholesterol and when DD was two the ped checked her levels. They were in a very healthy range and he suggested she drink 1% so that's what we get her. We (DH and I) drink skim and when DD is out I just give her a cup of the skim. |
| Agree that you will get lots of different answers. We do 1% since that is what DH and I drink....our pediatrician said that was fine. |
| You should ask your dr but our ped suggests whole milk until they are much older. |
| Our pediatrician recommended 2%, and since that's what I grew up on, I was fine with that. Why don't you ask your child's doctor? The recommendation varies by child. |

I plan to do 2% with DS. Only because I read a random study a while back that there's a tiny possibility that skim milk may be associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer runs very strongly in my family, and if there's even a remote chance, I'll stick with 2%. Also, DS is tiny, so the extra fat isn't an issue for us. |

Agree w/ 14:34. One pediatrician told me whole at 2. Than we moved here and I was told skim.
|
| Depends on the child and their weight. We started 2% after the age of 2 - bc his weight was good but I have friends that have to stick with whole milk for their kids being on the lower weight side. |
| 2% |
| We do 1%. My son loves his milk and he was on the stockier side so we reduced at 2 years to 1% but has since shot up and thinned out considerably because he's so active. But, he definitely doesn't need the extra fat that 2% or whole would give him. However, when we're out, I get whatever is available (if a restaurant only has whole, I give him that, if they have skim, I'll choose that). Definitely depends on the build of the child and how much they drink. |

DD is 26 months old and in the 95% for height and 50% for weight and we're still on Whole, while the family drinks 1% or 2%.
I think it will vary with peds and children though. ie: diet etc... CK |
