High school coaches are allowing it becasue they want the best teams possible, and there's no rule, from the high school side, against it.
If an MLS Next program is letting their kids play at public high schools, that's somethng to bring up with the program.
And as for why, clearly kids want to both play on the highest level club team they can, and play high school as well.

Clearly I said again. Kind of creepy you are looking what've posted before but ok.

Last year, HS coaches took a few a MLS Next players for our JV and V teams, however, once season started a few had to drop out HS because their Club found out. Yet, here we are again. HS Coaches don't care but I'm surprise they didn't take note from last year. They could have given those spots to players who want and are wiling/able to be committed to play High School soccer.
So tryouts for Spring soccer are starting and again so many MLS Next kids trying out.

If your child wants to play High School Soccer why not have him play ECNL or another level of soccer besides MLS Next.

Why are Coaches allowing this?
From what I hear the Fairfax team likes to play dirty. They won 2-1 vs. Braddock.

Right after the game ended one of the kids from Fairfax started "talking trash" to a Braddock kid. Braddock kid pushed him and next thing 6 Fairfax players jumped the Braddock kid. Other Braddock kids were chased by Fairfax kids across the field as well.
I say kids, but these are U18/U19 players.

Some parents got on the field as well. Police was called.

I think that Fairfax Coach and team should be banned from the SFL League.
As you might know there is a severe shortage of referees in DC and VA (and nationwide).

My son, 17yr. old, has been a ref. for a few years now. He makes between $30 and $50 per game. Being a ref is really easy for him since he loves the sport and understands the game. He started refereeing Rec. games and now does NCSL, CCL and EDP games. He doesn't really do ECNL or MLS NEXT because they are a bit too stressful.

VA is doing all possible to attract new refs. New referee clinics are now $45, that's half of the price, they also have uniforms 50% discount.

So I'm just passing the information below in case you have a teen who is looking to have fun and make some extra bucks during the weekend.

1. Consider becoming a referee
2. VA State Referee Office Information

.

Clubs don't deal with tournaments, specially in the summer months. Those administrative tasks are usually done by the Team Manager, who is a parent anyway.

Don't you have a team manager?

Interesting...

We moved from MLSNext to ECNL because we found it toxic. Lots of favoritism and lots of new kids coming in constantly. Lots of the part-time kids (play for other clubs) were starters. Practices were overcrowded and repetitive. My kid didn't regressed but didn't progressed either. A few kids left too. We're glad to be out that environment as well.

PS: The grass is not always greener.
Their top teams are good, however, there is a huge gap from 1st team to 2nd and 3rd teams.

3rd teams are basically glorified ($$$) Rec teams.

That's for both Girls and Boys.

I agree. We did the damp wipes and sticky mat. My kids always used Nike Tiempo Futsal shoes, they seem to have better support and better grip than other shoes.

Around 2 months ago, admin began requiring a username to post. Before this you could post anonymously. There were much more helpful answers to questions like this before the requirement and people could get good information. Now no one posts or answers questions anymore, the posts get very little response.

I should add the the requirement was made because many posts got troll, rude, and racists comments.

I agree. Before users jumped in to answer questions or offer their perspectives now the forum is pretty much dead.

I think we are probably looking at something less formal than a full league schedule. Don't want the regular weekly trips all over the area but instead looking for something more controllable, like a side of players that gets together for tournaments or plays friendlies against other clubs on an ad hoc basis.

I have two kids, same age, same issue. We are in NOVA.

Would love to find some strong "Rec" options as they still want to play games and play High School. Ideally something without all the training hassle and weekly long trips...and costly travel fees!

If Alexandria can do the right thing and follow MLS Next rules why can't SYC do the same?

Give SYC the benefit of the doubt -- maybe they don't know that one of their players is also playing for his HS team in violation of the rules.

I'd report it to SYC. I'd also report it to MLS Next. It's unfair and poor sportsmanship to flout the rules of the league.

This is not one or two MLS Next players in HS teams. The kids know them and talk about it. This is not a HS problem but, once again, SYC breaking the rules.
