There are still openings for children in the Hill Preschool's Bumblebee and Butterfly classrooms. The school is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and has flexible full and part time schedules designed to meet a variety of parents' needs.

The HPS "Bumblebee" and "Butterfly" classrooms serve students who are approximately two and one half to three years old at the beginning of the school year. The focus is on a print and content rich environment that stimulates enhancement of language, critical thinking and leadership skills. There is a strong emphasis on interest areas with teachers providing the children with a multi-sensory approach to learning – the themes are incorporated into all parts of the classroom and daily schedule. Walking into the classroom you will see children engaged in independent activities that take place in various areas, such as the house and pretend play/dress up area; the blocks area where children develop their special orientation and fine motor skills; the sand and water table that allows children to explore different textures and temperatures of different materials; and the music and library areas that allow children to be creative, explore words, stories and develop discussions as well as dance and make music that expresses themselves.

The teachers in the Bumblebee and Butterfly Classrooms are aware of the skills needed for children to be successful in Pre-K 3 and 4 as well as Kindergarten. They focus on these needs throughout the daily activities

The school is located in Capitol Hill neighborhood, three blocks east of the Capitol South Metro.

To inquire about openings, please contact Valerie Carroll, the director of the Hill Preschool at thehillps@verizon.net or by phone at 202-543-5372.

Sincerely,

A Satisfied Parent

I'm a parent of a child at the Hill Preschool, and I just wanted to alert parents looking for day care in Capitol Hill that there are still spots available for the summer and fall at the Hill Preschool. We struggled to find good day care, and our daughter has had an excellent experience there. The school is located two blocks away from the Capitol South metro, and (I think) still has full and part time slots available. For more information, you can e-mail hpsboard@gmail.com, or visit http://www.hillpreschool.org.
