I too was surprised that so many options and topics are represented here, and yet Home Schooling does not have its own thread.
I would love to see an area made for the Homeschooling DC Urban Moms and Dads, right there with Private, Public, etc... seems odd to count us out. We're aware of the Maryland blogs and forums, as well as the ones on the national scale (which don't have a subsection for DC), but we have specific DC things we'd like to talk about in the proper place: right here on the master forum for DC Urban Parents.

(I looked for the thread the Previous Poster mentioned, where "Jeff has addressed this before and has said the Schools General forum is sufficient for homeschool topics" but was unable to find it. Could you post a link for me to read his writing?)

It would be such an easy thing to do, to simply create another subsection.
Thank you!!

I'm not sure how to do this, but could you put me in contact with your neighbor? I'm happy to give you my e mail if you send me a private message, and you could pass my email along to your neighbor, if you're comfortable with that.
I would love to talk with someone who has used or is using the free government provided public homeschool Community Academy Public Charter School (CAPCS) Online of Washington DC and K¹².

Currently my oldest just turned 4, and I think the program starts at K. So I am looking toward future stuff a bit.

I'm just so curious about this program and how it's implemented.
Did you find the curriculum customization satisfactory?
Did you like your assigned teacher?
How was the online interface?
Was it difficult to log the hours?
Did your child enjoy it? Were they learning?
Were you happy with it?
What are pros / cons?

Yes, I have a lot of questions. I know there are under 200 people in the whole of DC who use this free government provided homeschool program. But I've got my fingers crossed one of you will connect with me.
Thanks in advance!
Have I missed ALL the deadlines for getting my 4-year-old into school this coming Fall?
I will have a newborn and a two year old this coming winter and I think my 4-year-old would really enjoy being in a part time school.
I don't think she's ready for full-day school yet, which eliminates all public schools (right?).

I live very close to the Petworth Metro stop and would love something in Petworth or Columbia Heights or even Brookland that we could walk/bike to.

I only know of ONE school in my area, the Christian Family Montessori School which would be ideal for us location-wise... but they are all booked up, with little chance they'll get to us on the waiting list.

Please tell me about any good schools in my area that you know of! Thank you!!!
