Peloton and Heart Rate Monitor

Anonymous
I have the old Peloton bike that does not connect to your Apple Watch for a heart rate monitor and after some research, I learned that I could use the App HeartCast on my Phone / Watch and it would connect to the Peloton to track my heart rate. (Once I did that, my calorie burn seemed much more accurate compared to when I ride on the road, so that was good.). For whatever reason, the last few days, when I start a ride, it will show the HeartCast on the “connect heart rate monitor” option and on Bluetooth, but the connect button is grayed out. Then it will come on and off during the ride, but never connect, just showing that it is trying to. My phone is right next to me, so it’s not a distance thing. Anyone experienced this and have ideas what I might do to fix it? Alternatively, if you have an app that works for you, I’d welcome recommendations. I don’t really want to buy a separate heart rate monitor, though I guess I will if I have to. Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer, sorry. But if helps,
I use a Scosche heart rate monitor, and am very happy with it. Make sure your settings allow the apple watch/health to "read" the Peloton app. After a ride, I just open up the app on my phone, and it then counts my workout on the bike as an activity on my watch. So my bike and watch aren't talking to each other, but the data is still stored on the watch, via the Peloton app.
