Recommend your kids desk

This is for my 8 yo son. Would like it to last a few years. We just got a regular size desk for my 12yo and I think that is too big for him for homework and projects. Since I know we'll be getting him another one in a few years, prefer something not too expensive.

Challenge i'm having is not just finding ones that I like but also confirming the size will work for his current size and next few years (not too big, not too small). Recommendations welcome!

Op - have you checked out Ikea? They have some kid sized desks and ones that aren't much bigger.

We got this one for our ES aged kid: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/micke-desk-white-80213074/
there are several variations.

We also went with Ikea, because this is not an investment piece, and got this one for our 8 and 10yo:

Has worked fine.

Oldest kid got a fancy desk. Middle kid got a $200 knockdown from an office superstore. Youngest kid got the cheapest thing Target had.

They all made it through high school. And yes, my kids did do their homework at their desks. But the total for each was only about 5 years of serious homework every night. Pretty much anything can survive that.

Our 8 yo has this https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-desk-black-brown-40339792/

He's had it for just under 2 years and it's held it very well.

Bought legs on Etsy and then a slab.
Let the wood acclimate, then DH cut to size and finished. Added some outlets and other accessories from Mockett.

We got that desk for our child with ADHD so she could stand or swing her legs if sitting, and the white board surface is nice. It costs less than half as much on Amazon as it does at that link.

We didn't get it from that link, either! But it's a great desk for fidgety kids.
