Fairfax - Fencing Sports Academy
MoCo - DC Fencers |
| Nova fencing and they are moving into an amazing new facility in January |
| Stay away from Fencing Academy. |
Why? |
|
I second staying away from fencing sports academy.
I don’t want to say anything on a public forum but do your homework. I would not leave my kids there for five minutes |
| Out of Nova fencing club on Falls Church and Fencing Sports Academy in Fairfax which is better? Not just for recreational but competitive fencing? Whose coaches are better? |
These two clubs could not be more different in almost every way. DC Fencers is a good alternative to Fencing Sports |
| What about Nazlymov? |
They are con artists |
Thanks 😊 I live in Falls Church so DC fencers will be too far. Out of Nova fencing and Fencing Sports Academy which one will you recommend for competitive foil fencing? I have heard good reviews of FSA. |

You don’t seem to want to hear what at least a couple of people are telling you.
I think if you visit the different clubs you will get a good indication Ask if your child can attend a class at both and make sure you stick around while they are there. Then you will likely get your answer |
Hands down Fencing Sports Academy. |
| PENTA in merrifield. Many of the top youth fencers in the country. While my son isn’t one of them, he greatly benefits from training with these kids. |

I'm not sure why people are bashing Fencing Sports Academy. My child is a competitive epee fencer and we are huge FSA fans. The environment can be intense, which is not for everyone, but that is kind of fencing generally. My kid finds it warm and supportive. Her FSA coaches teach excellent technique and tactical reasoning.
I know you asked about foil, and I don't know as much about the foil program. One of the foil coaches recently left to coach at Notre Dame, but the remaining coaches are excellent. FSA foil fencers are getting good results. I agree with the PP that you should consider Penta if you decide FSA is not for you. Again, I don't know as much about their foil program, but they have a huge group Y14 and Cadet-level men's epee fencers. Nova Fencing does have a beautiful new facility. I don't know as much about their coaching and environment. Other alternatives are Elite (in Springfield), AIC (in Herndon), and Cardinal (out in Ashburn). |
