ACPS enrollment for this school year

Anonymous
My son and daughter are in ACPS. Their class sizes are very small this year, which I love. With back to school at a lot of the local private schools today my social media feed showed a lot of ACPS classmates now at Blessed Sacrament, St. Mary's and other small private schools. Has ACPS released enrollment for this SY? I honestly wonder if there are less classes. Last year, my daughter was only one of two kindergarten classes. This year, one of our neighbors has one less classroom in his grade. I want hard numbers from ACPS.

Good luck getting them unless they tell a story they want you to hear.

You’ll have to wait. Official count is usually done in early. October

I suspect this will vary by school. I’m at an elementary with a low FARMs rate for ACPS. My kids classes are smaller this year than last year. But I don’t know if this would hold true at schools with higher rates.

Interesting. Thanks for the info about enrollment for the SY not being posted until October. I would like to hear what the class sizes are like for your kids in ACPS.

Agree there is a standardized enrollment census date. Official data won’t be released until later in the fall ( it was released last year , despite comment from cynical poster).

Based on info from Principal today, enrollment is down about 10% from max for our 40% FARMS elementary.

The enrollment numbers are public info on the site every single year.

I am at a high farm schools and there is always a much of parents who register their kids the first week (and many kids who don’t should up). I think it will take awhile to get to the number.

Anecdotal of course but at drop off this am I noticed there were fewer people. At least two of the cute dads weren't there.

Not fewer kids for us at MVCS in Alexandria.......8 Kindergarten classes this year!! With 23-24 kids per class. Not sure about the other grades.

K classes are probably up everywhere because they were very small last year since many people decided to hold back a year.

+1, and the principal said 892 in an email, which is pretty darn close to prior years. Both of my kids’ classes are huge.
