Where in DC to buy a new bed frame?

Anonymous
We just moved and my son’s twin bed frame is toast. Where in NW DC can I go buy something decent in solid wood that won’t be $$$? I’m guessing he will upgrade to a full-size within the next year or so, so I don’t want to spend a lot. Ikea in College Park had practically nothing in stock and I don’t have time for another trip that far. Any suggestions?

Just upgrade to a full now. Amazon, Walmart, Target online.

You aren't making sense. You want solid wood and went to look at Ikea? Solid wood is expensive. Why would you buy a twin and then upgrade to a full-size next year? Just get the full size now. If you don't want to go far or spend a lot, you'll need to look on Craigslist, FB marketplace, Next door etc.

After looking at Ikea and seeing nothing, I realize that I would rather get something nice that is solid wood. I don't want something cheap or ugly that can't be passed on or sold once it is outgrown.

But then you said you don't want to spend $$$...I still think your best bet is to 1. get a used twin bed or 2. just splurge for the full. I would do the full now.

Get a metal frame on Amazon that doesn’t require a boxspring.

Metal frame or upgrade now.

IKEA Hemnes is solid wood and perfectly serviceable.

FWIW, both my kids have IKEA beds and they have held up well. One bed is going on 6 years old now.

Room and Board and West Elm have lots of beds but they are $$$.

For solid wood I’d go to Room and Board. I don’t know what “affordable” is to you. The Room and Board on 14th has great customer service.
