where to buy school clothes for 11 year old girl

My 6th grade DD needs clothes and I'm not having much luck finding anything cute and anything that fits. She has long legs and is on the skinny side and average height - we are looking for size 12. We have tights but but need tops and she also likes to wear comfortable dresses and skirts. Any help would be appreciated!

We had luck with American Eagle in smallest sizes on some items, Target, Old Navy and Nordstrom.

Thanks! Curious, what size at H&M - I like their kids clothes but thought they only went up to 10?

Thank you for asking this! I went in there last weekend with my 10yo (size 12) daughter and was stumped. Does it just jump to the misses size after kid size 10? Those choices seemed far too... umm, mature... for my kid! I wondered if we'd somehow missed an entire section of the store.

H&M website shows up to 14 for kids sizes, but I recall last time I was in their store I had trouble finding the larger sizes. So I don’t know if they only carry those online or in their largest stores.

You can also try an x-small in juniors.

Yes, stepping up to juniors can work for some sizes. My daughter is now a 12/14 in kids. We were at Target and she liked a denim jacket they had, but it wasn't in her size in kids. So I had her try on a juniors (Wild Fable) XS. The body fit well, though the sleeves were awfully long. Pants were similar - they fit fine in the waist/hips but she didn't have the height quite yet. If your daughter has long legs the juniors size might work better for her.

Agree H&M has no tween options.

My 11, almost 12, year old is really picky about what she wears. She does find shirts at Old Navy. If your kid is more sporty, Dicks has some cute athletic wear - Nike, Under Armor, Champion. Weirdly, my kid also sometimes likes Kohl’s for dresses and shorts overalls and stuff. Went in once to do an Amazon return which was near the girls section and she found several things - they also have the cute athletic wear.

Tilly’s. They have kid sizes and they run lean/skinny.

We're almost exclusively Old Navy/Gap and the occasional Jcrew factory store. And a lot of it is sports stuff. It's tough because DD is tall and very long-limbed, but too skinny for XS women's stuff still.

Nordstrom has some things, but they aren't cheap.
