Can you give me an idea on the cost to replace 1 ton of AC with coils? Need it for 1 bedroom condo in DC that is size 583 sqft. |
$3500-6k. The coils are pricy. |
How can you find out if coils are ok and wouldn't need to replace them? |
You want to replace them both at the same time. Make sure they do a load calculation. |
Is 1 ton a good size for it?
Also, I don't have a lot of money so is there a way I can get old unit from somewhere and get this replaced? |
$1.5 ton is the minimum for outside condenser and you can get a cheaper installation for $2200-2500. Shop around OP. The price of $4-6K is outrageous and a few of them would try to rip you off. |
You need to have the HVAC person do a load calculation. |
It depends on the quality off the unit. A cheaper unit is not as energy efficient and may cost more in utility bills later on. |
It's fine. It is going to be my rental so saying money upfront is more important for me than monthly bills.
Load calculation says 1.5 tons |
OP, can you get a used AC unit for the condo? |
Have been talking to a few HVAC contractors but not sure which one to pick.
Any recommendations for the companies that you had good experience with reasonable cost? |
