I think Taylor is talented enough to make her songs interesting even if the person she's writing about is not. I also tend to think a relationship with a dumb jock (and yes I do think Travis is a dumb jock, sorry defenders) would be interesting in a more novel way than a relationship with a tortured artist with a drug problem. Sorry but that's been done to death, it's tired. There something weirdly counterintuitive about her relationship with Travis and I could see that being more creatively generative.

Have you seen lyrics leaks for her song "wood" on the new album? It's not looking great for Travis the muse! ("Alchemy" was a good song but it was about mh then underwent some lyric changes. Some say the same for "so hs." I don't know if I believe that but I don't think it's a good song so . . .)

adding alchemy was a so so song. But gulity as sin and loml and fortnight and even, to a lesser degree, ttps and my boy breaks his favorite toys are masterpieces. Once you add maroon and the 1 and question and snow on the beach . . . No way life with dumb jock will produce anything like that. Wood and so high school, ugh.

I don't think it will flop. It will come off as a try hard pop banger album that doesn't quite land and she'll be under TREMENDOUS pressure for her next album to be a critical or cultural success because this one will be neither despite making money. In some ways the was true of TTPD too, except that album will eventually become known as one of her best, greatly underappreciated etc ect. Just will take time. This one I have little hope for based on lyrics.

But who knows. Maybe the kids will like it and rally behind it. Us old people for sure won't.
