Is there a way to watch the parts of the Olympics we'd like to see, even if it's not live?

Anonymous
Somehow, I've only figured out how to watch the Olympics live, which means, for example, yesterday I watched people ride their bikes for an hour in the triathlon. It was kind of interesting to see how people could talk, for an hour, about people riding their bikes on a flat road, but it wouldn't have been my first choice.

On the other hand, I'd love to watch the water polo because it's exciting! But it's also at 1 a.m.. Or the soccer which doesn't seem to be on ever?

What am I missing? How can I stream a match or event that already happened?

Nbcsports.com, although you may need to sign in with a cable provider.

I don't have one. Do you think I can sign up somehow for just a couple weeks?

No idea, but you can watch for 30 minutes for free.

Here's the NBCSports FAQ: https://www.nbcsports.com/FAQ

And from it:
Q: If I am not a cable subscriber, how can I watch the Olympic Games and coverage?

A: You can watch the 2020 Toyko Olympics live on NBC's broadcast network for free*. If you do not have access to broadcast TV, you cannot watch primetime live coverage without a cable subscription, but we've partnered with Hulu, YouTube TV, and other brands to deliver you recap clips and highlighting moments of the games and ceremonies.

Peacock will show Tokyo Olympics highlights, including must-see moments from the Opening and Closing Ceremonies on NBC, as well as original documentaries and docuseries. Peacock is a streaming service that does not require a cable subscription. To watch the majority of Peacock’s Olympic programming, sign up for a free Peacock account. To watch more extensive coverage, such as replays of live events and live U.S. Men’s Basketball, sign up for a Peacock Premium account.

I think OP means is there a way to watch a specific sport like water polo after it has finished so they don’t have to watch in the middle of the night.

OP- We have cable and pay extra for the package for the nbc sports and olympic channels b/c I’m a figure skating fanatic and that’s the only way I can watch full events. Those channels along with USA and probably others, have been airing various other sports live, including water polo.

I understand your frustration. We pay for all these extra channels and the only way to watch Non-live steaming gymnastics was in primetime. And the coverage was abysmal. It was 100% USA focused. The mens us team isn’t even good. I would have much rather have watched the medal contending teams.

Can we complain to US Olympic committee? They are missing an opportunity here. I would happily pay them a flat $50-$75 for the full package to have full access to the Olympics. I’m not signing up for cable (even if it’s cheaper than that, which I doubt) b/c cancelling is laborious with cable, and the coverage now is terrible and difficult to navigate.

OC get someone like Netflix to package up all the events and stream everything on demand. You will see such renewed interest it will knock your socks off.

Yes this! And with the option to turn off commentary if you want! Just the entire sport event, start to finish.

If you pay for cable, you can log into NBCsports.com or download the app and watch replays of any of the sports. There is more coverage available there than just the primetime coverage.

We have Hulu and the replays suck royally. I am watching track and field. They start the coverage with runners already in the starting blocks, so you don’t even know which countries are competing! Then they cut it off after runners cross finish, without showing who won, their country and time. Ridiculous!!

We signed up for Peacock. For 4.99 a month, you can watch most events with commercial breaks. For 9.99, you can get commercial free. I have the app on the phone and can use Chromecast that I have with my TV. If my kids want a different sport, they can log on using the Peacock website and watch a different sport. There is a lag in events being made available, but that's okay for us.

We have YouTube tv instead of regular cable. It gives an option to record all broadcasts for specifi sports and save them to our library. Then we can watch at our convenience.
