Space Jam 2

Like many kids who grew up in the 90s, Space Jam holds a special place in my heart. Given this nostalgia, I decided to watch the new Space Jam on HBO with my husband. I am going to be blunt. It was worst movie I've ever seen. It was so clearly a money grab and the plot was horrible. The film tried to play into nostalgia, but failed and ended up seeming corny. The acting was really bad as well, although it had quite a few stars and cameos from different athletes and actors, such a Bill Murray and Steven Yeun. Overall, there is not a single good thing about the movie. Even the animation seemed poorly done.

If you were planning to watch it, don't bother. Some sh-tty movies are fun to watch to joke around and have fun. Space Jam 2 is not one of them.

Wow. I’m on vacation with family and all the kids and young adults (ages range from 9-22) might go see it today. But some of them were saying the movie is going to suck but they want to go anyway.

I actually liked it. Sequels
Usually are not as good as the original but I was glad I watched it.

We watched it last night and I thought it was just ok, but the kids seemed to enjoy it. I somehow managed never to see the first movie - was that any good?

Wouldn't recommend for most kids under 8.

My 4 y/o son managed to get through Spirit Untamed and Boss Baby: Family Business but didn't get through this OK. It wasn't INappropriate, it just went over his head.

Another thing is that the Looney Tunes haven't been in any movies since 2003 and haven't really been relevant to pop culture since the original Space Jam. With that said, this was a chance for them to return to the spotlight - I dunno if HBO Max is going to follow up with a new series or not.

As for the movie itself? If it couldn't keep my 4 and 7 y/o's giggling throughout, it may be lacking. Fun for 12+ who're learning about their parents' childhoods, or for older Millennials/young Gen X reliving their glory days, and tolerable for 8-12 year olds who're tagging along or would need a sitter otherwise, but the sum was less than the whole of the parts.

Some sequences, like LeBron and Bugs getting the gang back together (especially Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote appearing in the Mad Max universe), were hilarious, but I found Boss Baby Family Business much funnier ("Who wants to play Shawshank?") throughout.

The basketball game itself was like a Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover of Warner characters (the various characters were there to cheer for the Goon Squad).

No it wasn't but if you saw it as a kid you'll probably have find memories. We just watched the first one as a family and will probably watch this when it's free. Someday my kid will show it to his kid and it will be worse than he remembered because that's how nostalgia works.
