MCPS Middle Schools

Middle school is uniformly awful. But that aside, what MCPS middle schools do a relatively good job? Are there middle schools that one should avoid at all costs?

I think Pyle does a nice job with the kids. They help make an easy social transition, the teachers are on top of their game and very attentive to problems with the kids, the principal is terrific, and they do a great job getting the kids organized and prepared for high school.

My son is in the magnet at Takoma Park MS. I think it's very well-run (both magnet and regular program). The principal is excellent.

Pyle is hugely over-crowded. I think it's a real problem and does not do much for a positive learning environment.

All the MCPS schools are overcrowded right now. Nothing unique to Pyle.

Watch out for Key and Sligo. From what I hear they are very scary.

My child likes North Bethesda though

Definitely Pyle if your child has an interest in modeling or photography. Of their private parts, that is.

Are you referring to Francis Scott Key? Can anyone shed any specific information on this middle school? All I know is that is is a brand new renovated school with a IB baculareate program, but I want to know about some of the students or clicks.
