Company in DC that will install bike racks on your car?

Anonymous
Does this exist? I am terrified of installing a bike rack incorrectly and causing an accident on the road.

I will happily pay for either:

a) a place where you can buy some sort of rack system and they install it,

or

b) a place where you bring them a rack system you've purchased and they install it.

I have a Honda Accord 2018, and the main thing I need to carry this summer is a kid's bike, though as my kids get older I will probably be carrying more.

Thanks!

Call local bike shop or REI

Get a hitch.

U-haul will install a hitch for ~$100. Then get a bike rack that has a shelf the bike stands on. It will come with clips that hold the bike in tightly.

Many independent mechanics will do this if asked.

We bought roof racks from REI. Easy to install. Don’t have to take off the wheels. Easy to put the bike on and off.

Yakima was the brand.

You have to be careful with a roof rack if you are not used to paying attention to clearance for garages, drive-throughs, etc.

My vote is for a hitch rack. Those are pretty sturdy and can be easily removed when not in use.

I have a friend who forgot they had their expensive bike on the roof and drove into the garage.

Wrecked the bike - on a positive note - homeowners insurance covered it.
