You can thank Lana Del Rey.
Im not sure who that is, so I’ll thank Taylor

I guess you missed their collaboration then.

Lana is the one Taylor took elements of the song from. Without Lana’s song, you would not have Taylor’s song.

Taylor copied elements from Jackson 5, Pixies, and more. You can thank all of them.

Taylor sounds absolutely nothing like Lana. They could not be more different artists. Their Collab on midnights was the worst song on the album which was a shame because they are both excellent artist artists

Taylor didn’t mind borrowing from Lana for “Wildest Dreams” though…

“Wildest Dreams sounds like a paint-by-numbers Without You by Lana Del Rey. Taylor borrows a LOT from Lana in terms of style/sound, though her Lana-esque songs always feel like cheap imitations, including The Lakes which seems to be ripped from Born to Die.”

Other ways Taylor sounds like Lana Del Ray.

I love Lana and think Taylor is mid, but I don't really hear Lana on Fate of Ophelia. If Taylor sampled Lana for it, whatever, artists sample all the time, it's normal.

Talking about this does remind me of when Taylor dragged Lana up on stage at the Grammy's to accept an award on Midnights and you could tell Lana really didn't want to and it was incredibly cringe and awkward.

Cringe really is Taylor's brand sometimes. I think it's at least partly intentional but it's is very much not my thing.

Listen to Taylor’s Wildest Dreams and Lana’s “Without You.”

Taylor has taken partial lyrics, bridges, and more from others. Meanwhile, she sued Olivia R to get credit for inspiration.

Eh, I don't want to sit around comparing songs to each other. Without You is a great song, if Taylor did a cheap copy of it, bummer for Taylor and people who only listen to that and not to Lana's song.

I do think Taylor appears to be weirdly drama-prone with other female recording artists. She's either totally in love/obsessed with them OR they are feuding. She has no chill. She reminds me of people I've known socially who were ultimately very hard to deal with. In fact Actually Romantic specifically annoys me because it's precisely the kind of childish mind games I have no energy for as an adult. "OMG I heard you hang out with my ex who you were friends with well before I knew either of you, you must be obsessed with me!" Girl, sit down. You sound crazy.

I don’t get all the showgirl imagery either, it feels very off because Taylor just isn’t sexy. She is pretty, talented, successful, seems like a good person, etc. etc. but IMO she has zero sex appeal.

I think the showgirl theme is pretty clearly about her time on the Eras tour…

+1
And life on the road is not at all glamorous. She's portraying "the life of a showgirl" ironically, not literally.

The switched on Pop guys had a great episode on this album that got into the (many!) golden era/showtunes references on this album. Fred Astaire, Irving Berlin, jazz clubs… it gave me a new appreciation for the album and its “theme” for sure.

I was with you on the Charli thing, but then I heard that she opened for 51 shows on the eras tour which I can’t imagine how many millions she was paid for that, and after said she didn’t like feeling like she was playing for five-year-olds. I think she apologized or something, but that was super obnoxious, disrespectful, Taylor, and the fans and just really clueless. She deserves a diss track after that.

Oh, and I’ll add you can look up the statistics for the Eras tour and 95% of people were 18 or older with most of them in Gen X generation anyway so it was not only disrespectful and clueless, but just really uninformed and doesn’t sound like she knows her audience or who she’s performing for.

I’m still not into a diss track and the dissing she has done in the past with Dear John and so on. She’s always the victim.

This album just made me realize T acts like someone with a personality disorder.
Maybe Charlie is over it just like all the other friends left in Taylor’s wake…

Karli, Blake, Lena, Lorde, and so on. Maybe they tired of the drama llama.

DP. Provide actual citations, otherwise go sulk elsewhere. Taylor Swift always credits any collaborators or lenders (George Michael).

It's not our problem if you can't hear how similar it is to summertime sadness. That's a you problem. Also, why do you keep throwing insults into normal conversations? Grow up.

The Fate of Ophelia sounds nothing like Summertime Sadness! I love both singers and know Lana Del Rey's work as much as Taylor Swift. I'm sorry, you're just really reaching for something that isn't there. And finally, "keep throwing insults"? Not sure what you're referring to, but also not surprised.

Role Model bringing Charli xcx out on the SNL stage as Sally last night was quite a moment. And she in a Kansas City shirt… 💀
Tucker’s favorite band is The 1975, whose drummer Charlie just married, so it all makes sense.
