Actually, it can be VERY hard to tell. My kids are teens and young adults. When I attend events at the high school, some students look quite old. It has to do with facial features. Their faces just look mature and adult. If I met them in the street, I would totally think they were well into their 20s. By contrast, my kids look preternaturally young. My 20 year old was told he looked 12 when he applied for Global Entry a few weeks ago! He wasn't happy about it

I am a grown middle aged woman with teenagers who have friends who have more mature looking bodies than myself. All the hormones in our food has created precocious puberty, kids age quicker these days. They weigh too much.

They aren’t fat but they have obviously gone through puberty as most girls who are over 12-13 have. I am just saying that some young teen girls look like 20 somethings while they are in middle school. It’s not unheard of. Some look older than 30 somethings. Haven’t you seen middle school kids, girls lately? I have kids these ages and I think how very old some of their friends look. It’s not a good thing to look so old at such a young age for various reasons.

If you look at Julie Brown’s reporting, many of these kids had braces and were 13/14. Of course they knew.

I would wager many were unaware of the girls’ ages. Not defending them, but they believed they were sleeping with 18-20 year olds.

Anyone who went to the island would assume they were 12-17, because that’s the age they wanted to have sec with! Even if they were 18 and you are a 50 year old man, you should assume something is wrong. The men weren’t paying anything up front.

I agree. What the shocked posters are missing is that this happened when American society wasn't as fussed about a 17 year old going out with an adult. Remember Seinfeld? So if these men thought the girls were 16 or 17, they probably couldn't care less about the consequences. I bet the younger teens looked exceptionally old for their age. It can happen.

Is any of this excusable? Of course it's not. You don't go to a private island and consort with young women BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY AREN'T ABLE TO FULLY CONSENT. A morally upright person would know this, whether the girl is 17 or 19. It's just like young women sent from Russia to the Middle East to be put up at luxury hotels and be girlfriends to rich Saudis. They are not in a position to fully consent.

They came because of the "girls". Some were titillated that their reputation was that they were "on the younger side". Trump said it. It was a known fact. Probably they'd have been shocked to hear some were younger teens. But I don't think any of them cared if they were 15 or above. To a lot of men, if the girl looks like a woman, she's fair game.
