Gift ideas for senior dad living alone

Father’s Day is coming up. Dad lives alone in an apartment in another city. Can you give me some good suggestions for gifts? He doesn’t have any hobbies, but is a reader and likes politics. He also exercises at a gym. He is pretty independent, but doesn’t travel much.

I would say that what he wants most is time with you. Can you drive there and have lunch together? Even if you bring sandwiches and eat outside at a park?
