I don’t buy that Blake’s team was just going to release text messages from Taylor just to release text messages. Right? Or is the scenario I just laid out just as bad and legally gray?

I think you’re right that it was probably more “if Taylor supports Blake we can end this and her texts won’t have to come out” but since Taylor’s a potential witness that’s just as bad imo.

I disagree it's "just as bad."

An extortion threat is very serious. Gottlieb could be disbarred for that, or face civil penalties.

Whereas you are describing a non-threatening strategy discussion -- no threats, no extortion.

They are very different.

I am less interested in the celebrities here than the lawyers at this point. If Freedman accused Gottlieb of extortion and facilitating destruction of evidence, he's a bad dude and should be forced out of the case. On the other hand, if Freedman is baking those accusations in bad faith, and that's not what happened, I think he should face ethics challenges and potentially have his pro hac vice status removed.

I'm pretty gobsmacked about this.

However it was worded, Freedman’s alleging that someone on Taylor’s side considered it inappropriate enough that they memorialized it in an email basically saying how dare you.

Freedman doesn’t say who his source is. You are assuming. What if his source is someone less credible than a person in Swift’s camp? What if it’s someone who claimed to overhear something or have knowledge they don’t have?

No matter what, it is crystal clear that Blake is a liar and a manipulator. I don’t see how she comes back from this. Taylor Swift has come out and said she is a liar. Taylor Swift has contradicted absolutely everything Blake has said, on video, saying how intricately Taylor was involved in this movie every step in the way, blatantly telling Justin and Isabella that she was involved in the casting, and she went over the casting tapes.

Taylor is saying, that is not true. Who do we believe, I’m going to believe Taylor considering she was doing the largest and most successful tour in history. It now seems very clear that Taylor had no idea. Justin was going to be coming over for a meeting when she stopped by Blake’s house and Blake used her opportunistically to be able to drop her name. Blake is a liar and a manipulator.

That’s not what I’m saying at all and you know it. If he’s not lying, you all have been basically right all along. But if what he is saying is NOT true, why won’t anyone here adjust their opinions because of that? If his information is wrong and he just spread lies via a signed letter on the court docket, why wouldn’t you change your opinion of him?

All the lawyers are shady and I don’t give a crap about them. How anyone can be supporting Blake at this point is beyond me.

I just posted… This is Taylor Swift blatantly coming out and saying my former friend is a liar and I don’t give a crap what happens to her - she used me. How can still be defending lively is beyond me.

Really interesting to know what Isabella who played Young Lily is thinking right now - she clearly got played by Blake.

Just to return to the realm of reality: no, Taylor Swift has not come out and said "blatantly" that Blake is a liar or that Taylor doesn't care what happens to her.

One of the hard things about this is that Taylor has been largely silent. Yes, that seems to indicate that she is not backing Blake because usually Taylor is more obviously supportive of friends. However, she absolutely has not come out and said Blake is a liar, nor that she doesn't care about her.

The only public statement Taylor has made about this situation was to attack the subpoena that Justin's team issued against her and to explicitly call out Freedman for trying to use Taylor's name as clickbait. Taylor's statement against the subpoena and Justin's legal team was VERY clear and strong, and she hasn't issued anything even remotely like that regarding Blake, either for or against.

So I for one remain skeptical.

All the smoke and gossip leading up to this with both Taylor and Travis publicly distancing themselves from these two scammers suggests it’s 100% true. And you know it.

What difference does any of this make? As soon as Ryan comes out with another Deadpool movie, everyone is going to see it.

In his letter to judge Liman he says a rep to Taylor addressed the threats in a written communication to Gottlieb, that’s what I’m referring to.

Which of the Blake:Justin lawsuits are federal court? Or said another way, if all the related lawsuits don’t settle, which could be televised like Depp/Heard and Paltrow ones were?

In her statement, Taylor explicitly contradicted Blake on several points, which is calling Blake a liar. And if it wasn’t clear enough, the next day a “source” told the tabloids that her statement was not intended as pro Blake and that she understood Blake had dragged her into this not JB.

This is downright delusional. Taylor is her former best friend and godmother to three of her children. She is also known to speak out to protect women and practically had a master class on how to handle sexual harassment when she sued that DJ years ago. She did everything right, clearly consulted with experts, and didn’t have a misstep, and that was before me too when society was a lot less acceptable to women stories.

It is huge that we are nine months out and she hasn’t supported Blake, been willing to be seen with her, and now has come out and completely contradicted her. There is a video of Blake saying, Taylor was involved in this movie every step of the way. Taylor has come out and blatantly contradicted that. If that’s not calling her a liar I don’t know what it is.

She could’ve easily included in her statement, although I don’t have anything to do with this case, I support my friend. She did not take the opportunity to do that which speaks volumes. She also got in a dig that she didn’t even bother to see the movie till weeks after it was released.

Taylor practically invented breadcrumbs, and knew within minutes of Travis unfollowing Ryan it would be news. Which it was. That was strategic.

Super hero movies are dead. Ryan’s old as dirt. And Ryan and Blake are radioactive to audiences. What studio is going to risk a billion dollars on him when they can get some 20-something hunk to do the role without any backlash and drama?

Typical Hollywood transactional bs. Nobody is actually friends. Just kiss up and lock down and throw anyone under the bus to help your own career. Spare me the Godmother crap. As if Blake or Ryan are in any way religious or Christian.

So based on my timeline, it was a month or so ago when there were stories saying that BL and TS had talked things over and were back friends again. One source even said that TS and TK were “distancing themselves” until this lawsuit concluded and then they would pick up their friendship again with BL.

This was around the time that it was rumored that TS would probably be subpoenaed. But I do recall a few articles in the tabloids saying that the friends were back together and trying to heal their friendship.

It sounds like this is when the ‘soft’ threats began to happen (because it appears that more than one occurred if you reread Freedman’s letter). TS never said anything. Then a couple of weeks later, someone noticed TK unfollowing RR on social media. Not a word from TS camp until the subpoena dropped and TS said she was not involved it anything except for lending the song.

And now we are here.

Seems like BL made up the reunited friendship story and TS did not respond to it. Blake, it seems, kept driving the narrative via social media that Taylor was still on her side and still supported her. When the subpoena dropped, all hell broke loose for Taylor. And this is when a “harder” threat probably happened, plus the instruction to delete texts and emails (for fear that they could be discovered).

So yep, it probably happened pretty close to what Freedman is claiming.

Or a 40 year old named Ryan Gosling who everyone loves and who has managed to stay gossip free despite being in Hollywood for many decades.
