No fiber food ideas

Anonymous
I cannot eat most foods that have insolvable fiber, so no vegetables, fruits, whole grains (except whole grain flours), legumes, seeds, etc. I also can’t eat smoothies. Exceptions to this are bananas, avocados, nut butters.

If you had these dietary restrictions, what would you eat? I am on the cusp of getting tired with everything I eat and I would love new ideas!

This might not 100% be what you're looking for, but there was a long thread on purees with limited fiber and a bunch of good suggestions:

I think "low residue diet" is a good term to search for online.

Proteins: roasted chicken, various fish (salmon, sardines, tuna steak), seafood

Saffron rice, mashed potatoes

Avocado & cracked egg

Nut butter, banana & honey

Tofu + rice with store bought sauce (Trader Joe’s has a good yellow curry thai sauce)

Baked potatoes with salsa, cheese, sour cream, and chives

Sourdough bread topped with peanut butter and sliced bananas

Grilled cheese and canned tomato soup

Can you eat dairy? Lots of creme brûlée and panna cotta; avocado and bacon; chaffles made with eggs and cheese — to eat by themselves or as sandwiches…. Can you have juice? So: Carrot juice or some strained fruit juices ?

I think that maybe consulting with a dietician would be a good idea.

+1. There’s so much potential for nutritional deficiencies that I would want expert guidance to make sure I was eating healthfully.

I’m sorry. My spouse was on a very low fiber diet for a while until he had surgery to fix the underlying problem (stricture due to crohns). Life is SO much better after surgery.

He was living on white bread avocado toast, eggs, and Ensure shakes for months.

Yes that is my problem! (OP here). I got my second bowel resection a year ago and I thought it would get better but no. Womp womp. I’m glad your husband is doing better.

I actually did forget about ensure. I will get something like that.
