I need to get something off amazon for my niece. (While I was on amazon picking, my older teen DDs looked over my shoulder and said no, no, mom, your gift ideas are way off and we can help you later on. But their school has just opened up so they are super busy and by the time I get them to do this, I'll be late for her birthday.)
I emailed my BIL and SIL, but they have not replied yet so I just want to make this happen. If you've got a 12 y.o. DD, what does she like? I'm happy to spend $30-100 and can be more than one thing, whatever works! Thank you! |
Honestly, it’s tough because 12 year old girls are all over the map, and their maturity levels vary so widely. There’s very little that would please all 12yos across the board. Some still have one foot in elementary school, others are on a collision course for high school, while most are still navigating the middle ground.
So more info would help: Is she sporty? Artsy? Trendy? Outdoorsy? A reader? Into makeup and fashion? |
Well I've heard she likes basketball, and in the past she wrote novel (I didn't finish it because it was like 115 pages). Maybe art... It's hard because I don't know too much about if she *still* likes basketball, etc. And I don't know what she already owns. So I'm a bit stuck. But even if I miss a little, it's better than nothing. |
Gift certificate to Stitch Fix, barnes & noble, Starbucks or Amazon
Bath bomb Cute starbucks refillable cup |
A amazon gift card. |
At 12, my DD really got into fancy baths - bath bombs, flower petals, etc. She was also really into skincare and making homemade masks, and nail art - tons of nail polishes, nail tape, etc. She'd also recently discovered Starbucks and gift cards there went a long way. |
A covid vaccine appointment. My 11yo would be super jealous. |
True, but I don't think Auntie Larla can make this happen! |
My fashion conscious 12 year old recently got light up letter spelling her name for her room. She’s into room decor. A jewelry box might be good.
She’s into experimenting with makeup, doing her hair (scrunches, topknot, etc), etc, she does read a lot and is an advanced reader, but binged the wings of fire series, which I hear is popular tween fiction. She’s into art and has a lot of supplies. Kids like gel pens. A sketch book and fancy pencil set might be nice. She wants Birkenstock’s. She wears bucket hats and oversize hoodies. |
Also a nice small cross body purse would be nice. |
How about a nice set of paint, brushes, and blank canvases? |
My 12 wanted art supplies and scrunchies. Agree it’s going to be really hard to get something that all of them would like. |
OP here. Thank you for all the suggestions!
I was going for the art supplies, but DD redirected me to a glow-in-the-dark basketball (size 6, that's the size that girls/women play with) and a glow-in-the-dark hoop. I'm mentioning so as to add to this list! |
