I would love to get rid of my toaster oven, which is an eyesore and takes up so much space on my counter. I do use it a lot, especially for reheating stuff.
Does the convection part of a microwave/convection oven combo heat food just as efficiently and well as a toaster oven? Thanks. |
No. That was my intention too but a toaster is still needed for bread. |
No. It’s a much wetter heat than the toaster oven and I do not find them to be comparable. The only time I use the convection oven/speed oven setting on my microwave (Viking) is when I need to reheat something simple like mashed potatoes or stuffing on thanksgiving and my normal oven is full. The toaster oven, on the other hand, I usually constantly - as an oven and also to toast, melt, crisp, etc. |
So what happens if you try to melt a piece of cheese on bread in a microwave/convection oven? Will it work? Does the bread just not crisp up? Or the cheese not melt? |
The cheese melts but the bread gets soggy |
I've had one of these things for four years in a house I bought, still have no idea how to use it... and never felt a need to. |
Bump. Anyone had good experience with a microwave/oven conbo? I need to replace my microwave and am intrigued. Any brands to recommend or rule out? Thanks! |
