He's a tad immature for his age, and looking for something we might both enjoy. I don't mind anime, but don't love it. Any suggestions? He realy doesn't watch TV. Reading-wise, his favorites are Rick Riordan and Spy Kids. |
Avatar the last Airbender was a big hit with all 3 of my kids and I enjoyed it as well. The legend of Korra is its sequel. |
My three kids also love those shows. I've been watching Amazing Race with my 10 year old over the past year. Older seasons are on Hulu. We started with season 5 which is considered a good season. Some seasons have a better cast. Seeing the different cultures and countries is fun. She's learned a bit about geography and has a long list of places she would like to visit. |
Have you watched Raising Dion? Cobra Kai? Survivor?
What about the Planet Earth series narrated by David Attenborough? (Along those lines, my kids and I also enjoyed watching My Octopus Teacher.) |
His Dark Materials on HBO is the only non-animated show that my 10 & 12 year olds will watch. Once they get hooked on the anime, they don’t seem to want to watch much else. |
Avatar the last air bender animation is awesome! And I can't believe it was made years ago. Korra is good too but it has some teenage themes. |
If he likes the Marvel movies, the Falcon and Winter Soldier series on Disney+ is good. My 14 year old son and I are also watching the Mighty Ducks series- it's a little corny, but funny too. |
A 12yo should be able to handle shows with “teenage” themes. He’s almost a teenager. My 8 yo loved and understood Korra. |
The new She-Ra was amazing. Also good was Legend of Korra. Both are emotionally complex enough for an adult to really enjoy but appropriate for 12. |
We really liked watching The Umbrella Academy as a family. |
Wolfblood! We loved this so much.
Also: Great British Baking Show The Wonder Years The Voice Adam Ruins Everything The Amazing Race Family Ties The Mary Tyler Moore Show Blackish |
WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mandalorian
We also like Escape to the Chateau and Great British Baking Show |
I'm Sorry on Netflix is my 12 year olds favorite show. Very family friendly from its first scene. |
