I called Erby Mitchell at Sidwell

Anonymous
I called Erby Mitchell, Dir. of Admissions at Sidwell.
I talked to him the first time I called.
He spent a lot of time looking at my child's
application and discussing where we did get in.
During the process, he had said it was okay to call and
he kept his word.
He said mid-April would be a better time to call but he was fantastic anyway.
I am impressed.

Good for you. Do you think most schools are this open if you're waitlisted?

Anonymous
I think Sidwell might be more approachable because it maintains a shorter wait list.

I'm curious why you called Erby--our letter asked us to call Shelley Jeffery if we had any questions.

I am the original poster.
we were rejected at Sidwell, not wait listed.
I called Erby Mitchell because during the playgroup visit
he invited parents of rejected applicants to do so.

Thank you--I appreciate the clarification. I hope you are happy with your current options.

You were lucky to be rejected by a school with "attitude". One of Sidwell graduates decided to reject Harvard over Princeton because the entire family was sick of institutions who do not care about its students. Demand for the school's reputation is so high that there is no point making an effort catering to your "customers" needs.

n = 1. not very convincing.

Did he give you any perspective/feedback/insight about why your dc was not accepted?

We, too, talked to Erby. I found him candid and forthright. I give him high marks on what must be difficult and in some cases annoying calls to make.
