North Beach MD

Booked a small cabin and now have regrets. Was looking for a place close to a nice beach. And the North Beach looks really small on pictures. has anyone been and can advise if it is a good idea to visit with a 3 and 5 year old over Memorial day?

The beach itself is definitely small. And you have to pay for it. Where there a cabin around there?

It’s a nice, clean, small town beach, so yes, it’s very small. Short boardwalk area, a few restaurants, etc. They’re also doing a ticketing system for 2021, and I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if it was only open to residents at first. Chesapeake Beach was only open to residents last summer to keep the numbers down. But I don’t think they’ve released an actual plan yet, so maybe not.

I would look into Lewes, DE. Really cute town and you can do the bay really easily with young kids or venture into Cape Henlopen State park and go to the ocean. Lots of great restaurants and ice cream places too. If you rent a home, look for one in the downtown area or along the bike path. Easy to get to Rehoboth and spend a day there too-- that age loves Funland which is open with ticketed times.

+1 Lewes is great for little kids.

My mom lives in North Beach. It’s small, but is a nice relaxing place. Farmers market on Friday, a candy store, a popcorn place. The beach is small, but should be fine Memorial Day. There is also a pirate ship to play on. The water is protected so it’s actually a great spot for small kids.

Just take them to matapeake beach Just over the bay bridge. It’s perfect for little kids.

I would do VA Beach or Sandbridge for a few days. I feel like the Delaware and MD beaches will be jammed for Memorial Day weekend.

Every beach will be jammed immemorial day weekend if it’s nice. It could also be 55 and raining.

Day trip over Memorial Day weekend could be a nightmare with traffic! Also all the beaches may be crowded.

Bethany or Rehoboth

North beach is perfect for a 3 and 5 year old. You don’t need much at that age. We took our kids several times when they were quite young. Just spent a couple of hours there. They played and then went home. Perfect for a day trip.

This, easy drive and you don’t have to sit in the car for half a day when you know they’ll have their fill of beach after 2 or 3 hours
