Tell me about your GE Profile

I need a new oven (the old one is on its last leg) and the Bosch I want will take 5 months to get in (on backorder everywhere). The store has a GE profile induction range they recommend. If you have one, how do you like it?

I refuse to buy anything GE Profile. We had them in our last house and the quality is terrible. It's available right now for a reason. Wait for the backorder.

I just got the GE Profile induction range—chose that one due to Consumer Reports’ top rating. I have had other GE Profile appliances that have been reliable for many years as well.

I enjoy cooking and was skeptical that anything could be better than gas. I love the range so far though have only begun to explore all the features. I was new to induction but find it as or more responsive than gas and the stovetop not heating up is pretty amazing. Clean up is a breeze

The electric oven is awesome after decades of gas...cook times are much more predictable. It is also very roomy. I also love the app— being able to preheat the oven or set/view the timer from another room is surprisingly useful. I also find that the oven with just the oven light on maintains a perfect temperature for feeding/prepping my sourdough starter for use and then for the initial proofing phases for dough.

I did have to purchase some new cookware. I knew my old Calphalon wouldn’t work, but I also had some stainless pots that I assumed would be fine but their iron content was too low. You can check your existing cookware by seeing if a magnet will stick to the bottom. If so, you are good to go. The other thing I am careful about is not to take something out of the oven and put it in the stove top...my assumption is that the extreme difference in temp could crack the glass. I don’t know if that is accurate but I don’t plan on testing it!

Anyway, one month in and I am thrilled with my purchase.

What was wrong with it? Did it need maintenance or not function properly?

Love my GE profile range, going on 14 years, wow, I didn't realize how old it is. 3 levels in the oven, has a warming drawer below, 5 burners up top, middle can be a grill or large regular burner.

We also have a GE profile convection microwave (favorite feature that I will never live without, you can mute the horrid beep), a refrigerator that is still going but is making noises like it might crap out any day, but has been doing so for well over a year, and a GE profile dishwasher that died a few years back that I hated. It wasn't big enough and after 3 years, became very loud. We had a repair person out who said that happens, and when the motherboard went, I happily replaced it.

We have GE profile oven and a Bosch induction cooktop. Both have been great.

GE is good for cooking, not so much for laundry.

We have a GE Profile induction range and love it. Installed it roughly three years ago and have had no issues.

I don’t know about the cooktop, but I had a GE electric wall oven and I hated it. The temperature wasn’t correct and I could never get it adjusted properly. It was always too hot or too cool. The convection fan was weak and worthless.

I don't know about the induction range, but our house came with a GE Profile package from the previous owners. The hardwoods at the fridge and DW are ruined because of leakage. In 20 years at our previous home we never had this happen with Whiirlpool or Bosch. I won't buy GE despite the repairman insisting they're still the best.

Had GE profile for at least 15 years, moved them from old to new house. Love them, never had any issues. I ordered new induction range back in Feb 2021, still haven't heard when I will get it.

We got GE Profile because of the consumer reports ratings. No issues.

I loathe GE Profile line.

We have GE Profile gas range. I like it a lot and kept it through a renovation thinking we'd swap it out when it dies -- it hasn't. Its about 14 years old or so.

This. Our entire house was GE Profile and every single appliance was awful. I will never buy GE again.
