Spring Wardrobe, late 40s: Pictures & Links!

Anonymous
Like everyone else I am stuck in sweatpants hell. I have no idea what to wear these days that is comfortable and cute. I work from home and that will continue so no need for office clothes. I'd just like to get out of this rut and start with a few new complete outfits. I'm late 40s, mom, WFH, 5'6", 125, kind of flabby. Mousey-brown hair, green eyes, pale. Any inspiration photos or links to actual items would be greatly appreciated. I would love to be able to click and buy and have it be done, as I hate shopping and am bad at it.

I would say my budget is max $75 per item, and that's upper budget. I'd much prefer to spend in the $25-50 range.

Thanks in advance for your advice,

Nordstrom personal shopper, either in person or online.

I'm 5'6 and 118lbs on a tiny frame, you cannot be flabby at 125!!

That's first.

Second, what brands did you use to like pre pandemic?

Have you considered Stitch Fix? Made for people who hate shopping.

A person can be skinny and flabby. That's essentially what skinny fat is. No muscle tone.

It's also pretty low quality stuff for a huge markup and not particularly personalized (theyre just trying to move whatever cheap stuff they have).

These all look very skinny jeans. Isn't that look dated at this point? I never found it very comfortable. [Not OP, just another late 40s mom, who is looking fondly back on the year that she thought she was flabby at 125 lbs....]

OP, can you give us some ideas as to what purpose you're shopping for? Target runs? Date night? WFH? Neighborhood BBQs? Something you can wear to all of these above?

This is recommended on this board often, but when I tried this I was really disappointed. I'm sure there are good shoppers, but mine really missed the mark. Besides the fact that I didn't love most of what was brought to me, there was very little in terms of outfits or pieces that work together, really just more disparate pieces. The whole thing felt sort of random. YMMV.

Nordstroms has really changed....I can no longer find a cohesive outfit. so weird nowadays-- no longer classy/quality.
