An important warning for anyone who has a Tread+ and also has small children or pets.

Over my dead body. I'm sure jet skis are dangerous for children too - you don't see them being recalled.

The video of the boy getting trapped is scary. Unless you live in a big house where you can lock the kids out of the room it's in, I wouldn't get one. Definitely not for us.

Any treadmill is dangerous.

That's true but per the article, they're saying the specific design of the Peloton tread makes it more dangerous.

"An official familiar with the CPSC’s concerns said the agency was alarmed by reports of victims being pulled under the machines and suffering injuries that included broken bones and head trauma.

“This doesn’t happen with other treadmills,” said the official. “It is a different hazard pattern than is typically seen.”

Why are the children playing on this unsupervised?! The key should be removed and the power off- just like any exercise equipment it should not be accessible to these small children.

The only thing needing recall in this scenario is the parents. I pull the key on mine and have now decided to turn it off and unplug when not in use.

It can also happen while you’re using it, so hopefully you are in a locked room with no kids or pets.

It's a warning not a recall.

Yes, but this is the US. We have “contents may be hot” warnings on coffee cups because some idiot burned her mouth once.

The issue is actually while you are using it.

All kinds of things can happen. Our dog has no interest in the treadmill while it’s in use. I also don’t wear a mask while driving in my car alone.

This is an ignorant statement. McDonalds was selling coffee at near boiling temps (190 degrees) and someone suffered 3rd degree burns requiring skin grafts when some coffee spilled in her lap.

Can they just recall the negligent parents?

So now it’s negligent to work out while a two year old naps? She wakes up, comes to find you on the treadmill, and gets life-changing injuries. No one but Peloton to blame there.
