Helen McCrory died at 52 after secret cancer battle. She was married to actor Damien Lewis. She starred in Peaky Blinders and was in Harry Potter. So sad. She was excellent in Peaky Blinders. |
Rip. She was so good in PB. |
oh my god. That is awful!!! RIP |
Awful, too young. |
She was an amazing stage actress too. It's sad to think of all the work that lay ahead of her for years to come. |
I wish the coverage wouldn't refer to a "secret" cancer battle, but that's so typical of the Daily Mail and its ilk.
It was a private medical issue she and her family chose to keep private. Sometimes there's too much expectation that actors lay every part of their lives out for the world to follow. If her condition had been known, things would have become all about "How does she look?" etc., at least in the British press. A big thing to note: She and Damian Lewis led a big campaign to provide hot meals for health care workers during the pandemic and the project is still going strong. It is such a down-to-earth, simple, practical way to help during the pandemic. Says a lot about both of them. |
It wasnt even that private was it. She supported a breast cancer campaign back in 2010. |
Please don’t say “secret” which suggests it’s something kept from us. “Private” includes a definition that it is none of our business. |
RIP Helen McCrory. She was a standout actress. Glad for her family that they were able to maintain privacy. |
She was - I thought she was extraordinarily charismatic and talented. And it is heart breaking for their kids (who are exactly the same ages as mine) |
Wow! Truly terrible. I know they are filming Peaky Blinder's final season now. I wonder if she was filming and took a turn for the worse or if she pulled out knowing her health was declining? |
Secret...private...same result: nobody knew. That’s fine. Her choice.
I know two women irl who hid their breast cancer battles. Nobody had a clue until they died. Not even their coworkers or close friends. That’s fine: their choice. |
Exactly. Private. (Not secret). |
I am honestly so sad about this. She was an amazing actress and way too young. What a loss! |
OMG.. so sorry. RIP Beautiful Lady.
