I’m finally getting around to reupholstering club chairs in our barely used living room. We’ve updated everything else. I keep coming back to a beige or warm white velvet (couch is an earthy green). I’m not a trend setter or follower (if that’s not already obvious) but does velvet scream something I should be aware of (not so much concerned about durability)?

Girl did you just come to the internet to find out if beige velvet is okay?
Beige velvet is fine. You’re fine! It’s fine. |
I did indeed. DCUMers keep it real. Thanks. |
Where do we find this lovely beige velvet upholstery fabric? |
Will’s Home Decorating in Hyattsville. |
Any fabric stores in Tysons area recommended? |
Get crylon fabric if you can. Also, go to calico in Arlington on the falls church border to look at fabrics and have it done. |
Is crylon a type of material? |
Just FYI— west elm has performance velvet they sell by the yard https://www.westelm.com/m/products/fabric-by-the-yard-performance-velvet-g246/ |
Thanks for this! $24/yd seems reasonable? Anyone have this fabric? |
I posted the link- I recovered chairs in a different west elm fabric that has held up well (though they aren’t chairs we use much). You can get swatches (or could when I ordered many years ago) |
+1 and lol. I would insert a beige heart emoji if I could. |
We used the performance velvet from one of those stores (WE or PB) upon the recommendation of someone on this board. We have the navy. I love it. The only annoying thing is that my white dog's hair always find a way to the navy upholstered chairs. Sigh. |
It’s actually a coating, applied to different fabrics. Your other option is fabric made from something “performance” like Sunbrella (a kind of acrylic) or polyester. |
Crypton (not crylon)is a performance fabric. |
