Did stimulant meds make your child's blood pressure too high, but work otherwise?

If so, what did you do? And what specific blood pressure numbers did your doctor consider too high? My son is at 120/70 on meds (and more like 90/60 off them). Our ped is concerned.

Wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I know there are non-stimulant options, even ones that specifically lower blood pressure, but would love to hear anecdotes from people whose reason for switching meds was that they were increasing blood pressure too much, although otherwise working.

Normal blood pressure for children varies by age. Here's a chart

If the medicine is working, I'd consider lowering the dose before switching. Also look at time of day. If blood pressure is only high when the blood concentration peaks, you could switch to a formulation that has a smoother release pattern.

Also make sure you are using the right size cuff. I was using a kids cuff on my 7 yo but DC's arm was too big for the kid cuff size and i got inflated readings!
