That seems like a lie. Why would the embassy have their passports?

The embassy would hold them for safety. That seems reasonable. Except that everything was burned.

Embassies often take the passports of people applying for visas.

Yup. Even here in US I hand over my passport, sometimes for months, to embassies when I need a visa for all sorts if travel.

I have only voted Dem in my whole life and I hate us being forever mired in the Middle East. However I object to the humanitarian crisis that is spiraling out of control because of this pull out. We have to help the women and children. I don't know how. But I can't see just abandoning these people to the Taliban.

There was a humanitarian crisis already going on in Afghanistan while we were there. Were you aware of it?

Now where did our money go? 800 million expansion of the USA Kabul Embassy making it the largest USA Embassy in the world. Taliban revenue might be more transparent than Afgh pres and leaders sources of revenue in their personal accounts.

So who should be fired in the USA? Whoever is still getting a paycheck and had any say in that massive embassy expansion. Blinken and Milley since anyone with the internet could see the rate of Taliban progress over the last 1.5 months. Australia closed the Embassy in May and removed troops in June.

Who should NOT get into the USA or any of our allies or other countries? All who stormed the tarmac, hung on planes, climbed on planes. unauthorized access at airport. Note this guy who had a visa for Uzbekistan , went , and now is whining about his kids in Afghanistan. Anyone that ook another's paid for seat or got on a plane without a ticket.

Military failure by the US and allies? No. We were the only fools that overloaded and that was political and nation building. Time to get any $ back rom the corrupt pols and others. Since that Embassy is closed furlough them.

Oi, child. You think these billions of dollars are sitting somewhere under the mattress? Of course not. They are moving through the international financial system, just like anyone else. Now, you believe that the U.S., that fights tooth and nail to keep Iran from using the system is, like, unaware of how Taliban moves its money?

Wake up.

Also, Iran does not fund the Taliban in any significant way.

Of course billions aren't sitting under a mattress. The USA overspent and overloaded the mission in Afghanistan. We look at that grossly oversized Embassy as a comp to politically inspired local bond projects that were not needed. Iran? It was mentioned as some private citizens and possible govt money. Do I care? I care about our money flowing.

After the mess at the airport and everything including lives we have poured into that country ... FYI now they are even complaining that we are evacuating our service dogs. Highly trained and weigh about 75 pounds apiece. They are living equipment. https://twitter.com/RichardEngel?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

LOL and that's just the money you see. The real money you'll never see - the money the U.S. spent funding, training and arming the Taliban.

No one else knows how either. If you can figure it out, I will nominate you for a Nobel.

There is no way for you to help the Afghan women or children so it is best that you stop concerning yourself with them. There were women and children in Afghanistan before the Taliban, during and after them. Life goes on.

Prescient:

Q: Your own intelligence community has assessed that the Afghan government will likely collapse.

BIDEN: That is not true, they did not reach that conclusion… There is going to be no circumstance where you see people lifted off the roof of an embassy… The likelihood that you’re going to see the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.

As I said, it was not the embassy roof. It was the Zen Garden, a completely different circumstance. Next question.

I don’t know how many passports we are talking a out but even if it was a thousand seems like they could have put them in a box and put them on a plane so at least it would help with refugee processing or to somehow get back into country.

Why don’t you step up? Do you have any sons or daughters you would like to volunteer to fight for these Afghanistan? How about yourself? I am sure you can go down to the local recruiting center?
