Is there a listserv for Cleveland Park? Can't the two of you who are bickering back and forth go fight it out, there?
You're the most trivial people on the planet. |
But there is not even a preliminary plan! Not even a concept sketch to show how everything will fit. |
The only problem with your logic is that DPR staffers say that they did not analyze alternatives and choose Hearst as a pool site. That seems to be on Commandante Che. |
Can someone explain where at Hearst the pool and pool house will be constructed? |
LOL! |
It's a state secret, which Mary Cheh will reveal to the masses only after it is too late to weigh in on the location and the significant tradeoffs that will come with it. |
Siting of homeless shelters and public swimming pools are trivial issues?

There is, but it's not really used by people who actually live in Cleveland Park to discuss neighborhood issues anymore. More than 10 years ago, there used to be lively discussion of issues on the CP list serve. People who knew each other as neighbors or from community projects debated issues respectfully (with signed postings). But two things happened. First, the "moderators" began censoring posts on issues with which they disagreed, so serious discussion moved elsewhere because people didn't trust the list serve to be impartial. Second, the moderators grew the list serve so much that it became the de facto NW list serve, with less and less relevance to Cleveland Park It's still useful for finding a lost pet or selling an old dresser (although the moderators love to charge for anything resembling a commercial post now). |
| This pool is not going to happen. The Department of Parks and Recreation doesn't support a pool at this location, especially as it would involve tearing out the field and tennis courts. |
Seriously? You couldn't have just let this thread die the death it should have! |
| That directly contradicts the latest information I have, DPR, particularly on weekends like this, understand that residents need a place to cool off. Weather like this is only going to get worse because of climate change. |
Go ahead. Ask DPR. They'll tell you that they have had no input into the site selection and are at a loss on how they'll site a pool there. It's all on Cheh. |
| I'd like to keep Hearst as a green park, not pave it with lots of concrete. |
Exactly. Not a good reason to cut down large mature oaks and cement-over a swath of green space. This isn't the 1950s anymore. |
Again, why it would be a far more pleasant for homeless families than the police station parking lot. Put the pool by the police station and the homeless shelter by Hearst.
