My daughter is complaining about acid-reflux and gastritis type pain. She had a virtual visit with her doctor, who suggested Prilosec. I suggested avoiding things like fried foods, coffee, soda, etc. She recently started the slow release Wellbutrin and a small dose of Adderall. I don’t know if these things are related to the stomach issues.
How long do we let this continue before seeking help from her GP? |
SSRIs absolutely cause stomach pain. |
Is there a reason you haven't asked the doctor she consulted with this question? |
She’s a young adult, and would have to sign a release. Seems like a lot of hassle for a simple question. I did ask her to email her doctor and ask the question. |
Neither of the meds are SSRIs, but it looks like it is a common side effect of Wellbutrin. |
Has she tried the prilosec? Some of those antacid medicines take a few days to kick in. |
Yes, she’s been taking it for 9 or 10 days. |
Sorry you’re right, but Wellbutrin has similar side effects to many SSRIs. |
Was the doctor who suggested Prilosec also the prescriber for the Wellbutrin and Adderall? If not, I'd ask that doctor as well. |
I had GI symptoms with Wellbutrin. |
Yes, it was the psychiatrist. I guess we will let it go for a couple more weeks before we seek testing. She is going to contact the psychiatrist and see if she wants to change back to the regular release Wellbutrin. |
OMG.. why they medicate kids for stomach pain now. There is a whole bunch of home remedies before you reach for this kind of heavy artilery. |
How is she doing OP? |
I would bet a lot of money that it has to do with starting the Wellbutrin. These kind of drugs can be rough on the G.I. system at first. It passes. |
It’s starting to improve now! |
