Alternatives to Primary.com Yoga Pants (soft, straight leg cotton pull on pants with elastic waist)

Anonymous
Primary has discontinued my go to pants for my daughter! The yoga pants were perfect - they were soft and comfortable with a waist band like leggings, but they had a straight leg so they weren't skin tight (their leggings are super tight even on my very slim daughter). Strangers would ask me where we bought them because they looked like regular, soft, pull on ponte pants. I haven't been able to find anything else like them anywhere. Jeans aren't soft enough, Jeggings usually have a button and/or zipper which she doesn't like (and are usually leggings and not straight leg anyway). The closest I've come is boy's athletic pants, but even those are harder to come by now as everyone sells joggers with cuffs instead of straight leg pants. She doesn't like joggers because they're usually thick like sweatpants and too bulky for her. She's so picky and I'd like her to be comfortable and have an option that's not just leggings.

Any suggestions?? I really wouldn't want to spend a ton of money on these either - the Primary yoga pants were around $22 I think. For now, I'm buying Hanna Andersson leggings because they're not as tight as other brands, but we miss the straight leg of the yoga pants!!

OP here - to be clear, I don't want what you and I would consider yoga pants, hence the detailed description.

Lands end had something like this in their girls yoga pants. I’ve been having trouble finding them at LE lately so they may be discontinuing. They were my go-to for a decade with multiple girls.
We just got something very similar at old navy though—called Jersey yoga pants for girls.

Also I’ve been able to find some joggers made out of thin material. I can check that if you want. Mine won’t wear heavy materials.

Thank you, that would be great!

I'll keep an eye out for Land's End. I just looked at Old Navy, she really likes how soft their leggings are, so these might be good. Thanks!

Maybe check Uniqlo's joggers?

My DD LOVED the yoga pants! She has ASD and is so limited with clothing. She likes the girls "sweatpants" (they're not heavy, and not what I would consider sweatpants but that's what they're called) from Lands End:

She also likes the yoga flare pants, but I think they be on their way out, considering the lack of color options:

Maybe check Carters/Oshkosh boys joggers (or girls too but I don't check that dept so I don't know)? Some have cuffs but others don't so they are more plain straight leg. My DS has both. I don't think they are too thick, just medium. They come in neutral colors.

In general, it is very annoying that clothing for young girls seems to only include legging style pants. This was just surprising, and sorta annoying to me, now that I have a toddler girl after having a boy who had loose fitting everything...

Following this. My DD hates leggings but also doesn’t like baggy pants. I just ordered the classic fit legging from Hanna Andersson in hopes that works for my slim but sensitive kid

We got the best soft but loose pants at Marshalls for like $3 each pre pandemic. But it's a no name brand I can't find elsewhere. It's so annoying that so many are skin tight!

OP here - a few years ago, I bought two pairs of girls athletic pants (like track pants) from Children's Place that she LOVED and I wish I had bought them in every single size since I haven't seen anything like them since. She's skinny enough that boys' pants that fit her around the waist are usually too short and if they are long enough, they're really big around the waist. I tried taking a pair in once but it looked terrible and she hated it.

I'm the PP who posted about LE. The second one is what I've been buying for my girls for the last decade, and I am so irritated that Lands End is discontinuing them. I wish they made them in bigger sizes even, as we had a real issue when my older kid got too tall for the largest size. The first ones are too heavy for my kid -- she gets sweaty in them. But they are nice for cold days, and the straight leg is nice and so is the wide waist band.
The Old Navy one I mentioned before is the closest we've found to that second LE yoga pant -- I think the old navy one is thinner material. My kid is also liking the Old Navy ultra soft joggers (which is a lighter fabric, not like sweatpants), but that has a band at the bottom which not every kid will like. The band is comfortable though, not one of those irritating elastics. The plush slub knit is also comfortable, but a bit heavier. She also likes the Land End soft brushed jogger --- but again Lands End is killing me by discontinuing it! It used to be that you could get the same classics year after year from LE, but now they are more like Old Navy, where as soon as you find something you like, it is already gone. I hate that -- my kids just want the same thing in larger siz
