Asthmatics and gas stoves!?

Anonymous
My child and I both have asthma (fairly well controlled). I've always had gas stoves and have both gas heat and a gas stove in my home. I was listening to the podcast below about how bad gas stoves are for home air quality-and I trust OTM as a legit, non fear mongering news source. What do you know about this? Has anyone converted from a gas to an electric stove? Has anyone had a health care provider warn them about having a gas stove?

Crack a window when you use your oven.

I have asthma, as well, and have a gas stove and furnace in my house. In my next house, I'll go electric because of the air quality advantages. Do pay attention to the ventilation in your house. We have an HVAC system with great filters, plus I always use the overhead vent when cooking. Cracking a window is a good idea, too. All of it helps keep the asthma in check.

My daughter and husband both have asthma. I converted our gas range to an electric range and removed our ventless gas fireplace. The gas furnace is in the garage utility room and vents directly through the roof so I don’t worry about that.
