Thinking of going back dark after years of balayage highlights

Anonymous
Title says it all. I've had balayage highlights done on my long, dark brunette hair for the last 5 years or so and the wear and tear is really starting to show. I'm thinking of going back to my natural color which is a dark ash brown. I have olive skin and green eyes. I'm worried if I hate it then it's going to take so much time and money to go back to where I am now. But I'm also lusting after dark, shiny locks a la Kourtney Kardashian (I'm not a fan but she has great hair). I'm mid 30's. Will I regret this?

Since I've been on so many FaceTime and zoom calls, I miss my balayage. My hair is dark too and the highlights give it dimension. Now I just look pale.

I don’t think so. It sounds healthier for your hair. Maybe do a demi?

you’ll hate it. i tried the same and was back in the salon within leas than two weeks. just felt drab even though it was gorgeous, rich brown. highlights are popular for a reason. i’ll never try again.

I went from dark glossy hair to balayage highlights 12 months ago. Life changing. I am never going back to brunette. Lighter hair is so much easier to look after. And looks better than dark hair when not styled.

Why so much wear and tear? Are you recoloring it dark and rebalyaging every time? Do you have any grey?

I look so much better with dark hair. Olive skin, blue eyes.

OP- I did what you are thinking of and get so many compliments. I have had many tell me they like me better with dark hair.

I think of Sandra Bullock, Julia Louise Dreyfus that look so much better dark.

Lighter color started washing me out and frying my hair. The dark hair is shinier, glossier and makes my blue eyes really pop.

I felt like every woman has that same dyed blondish color too.

Meghan Fox also looks so much better as a true brunette, not as good lighter haired.
