Shocked at person butting in car pick-up line at high school on first day back today

Anonymous
While a line of cars waited, single-file to pick up kids being let out of high school today, a Mercedes SUV bypassed most, sat in the second "lane" that is used for people to exit once they have picked up child, and preceded to sit there and wait for children, while others backed up behind them. Entitled looking kids sauntered to car and got in. Literally people were honking and waiting and driver did not care. WTF is wrong with people.

Sounds like life is getting back to normal then. Saw this in the kiss 'n' ride at our school on a semi-regular basis pre-COVID.

This is everyday life at Pyle Middle School in MCPS. Welcome to my world. Kids almost get hit by cars daily and school does nothing.

How can you possibly have kids in high school and still be shocked by this?

Disappointed, yes, but by high school it should be very clear that something TF is wrong with people.

Was hoping people might have had time to reflect and learn to think of others during crisis that just killed 500,000+

A poster on our neighborhood listserve bragged about cutting the vaccine line. Some people are hopelessly despicable.

This is when the schools need to step in and direct them to the back of the line.

The people who do this at our school are clueless grandparents who don’t understand the carpool protocol...and first week or two back is also always a shitshow, IME.

What high school has a pick up line? All of the schools my kids went to we just waited on neighborhood streets. There is no space for a line. Kind of like that there isn't a line.

Did anyone say anything to them?

+1. Kids either take the bus, walk, or drive themselves or catch a ride.

What school, OP? Yorktown?

This happened to me the other day too but at after school activity drop off. There’s only a few cars waiting and plenty of spaces up the lane just beyond the main entrance. And it took the kid forever to get off. We’re pretty nice people here at WF but this was too much. So I honked mercilessly .

I never do car line. Too many idiots who either break the rules and/or are too stupid to understand. I always just wait nearby and have my kid walk a little extra. Its much better for my blood pressure.

In ES its always the parent who refuses to pull all the way up because their snowflake must be closest to the door, meaning 4-5 cars don't make it during that "round." I just can't.

This is my experience too. It’s someone who doesn’t know the ropes yet.
