Mismatched Appliances

Anonymous
We have all steel appliances, but have mismatched brands (Miele dishwasher, Wolf Stove, Kitchenaid Fridge, Bosch microwave) that we purchased when something broke and found models that fit and were well reviewed.

I love bosch dishwashers for example, but their ranges are meh. Do people really buy matching even if the brand is not well regarded in that appliance.

We are further hampered by a 33" wide fridge space, which is crazy hard to find counterdepth models.

And I have a white double oven when most of my appliances are stainless and my stove top is black. My friends gently tease me. What do I care. The modern appliances have such a short life span and my double oven is fantastic. No way am I going to replace it when it still works beautifully. When we decide to sell our house, if it’s still working, I will replace it to sell because buyers will be turned off by the mismatch. In the meantime, I will enjoy my oven and endure my friends teasing while they enjoy my hospitality.

I don't think any of my appliances are the same brand. They are all black though which is pretty much the same color/finish across brands -- unlike steel appliances that can vary some in color/texture/finish. But I probably still wouldn't bother with matching brands.

When we remodeled our kitchen in our last home (totally gutted it), we use the same brand and probably even the same "series" for all our appliances. That was easiest.

People mostly have matching appliances because they come at a HUGE discount when bundled. Our kitchen is brand new, so our appliances match. As we replace them in the future, as each reach their EOL, we'd probably consider other brands. If they were all at the fritz at the same time, we'd bundle again.

It is more important that the finishes match the kitchen and that the appliancea are top brands.

Your friends are jerks.

This. Color matters. Brand does not.

People have “matching” appliances because that’s what the builder installed or it cheaper to buy them that way during a remodel. The higher end the house, the less likely the appliances are to “match.”

I have a Whirlpool stove and Fridge and a KitchenAid dishwasher. I don't care. They are all stainless steel.

I used to have Whirlpool everything which was purchased as a bundle during a kitchen renovation.

Mine are the same color and texture not the same brand. I'm looking to replace them soon and will not necessarily be looking to get all the same brand

We chose appliances we liked - Bosch DW, KitchenAid fridge, etc. All stainless finish. We expect to be in house 10 years or so - important for us to get appliances with features important to us. (And there were no package deals that had everything we wanted).

I don’t know anyone who has matching appliances. They finish matches (stainless steel) but that’s about it. We have Bosch dishwasher and fridge, wolf stove, zephyr hood. We went with items that were well rated.

we redid our kitchen 6 years ago but were already on our 3rd white dishwasher in this house and refused to buy a new one to match the stainless other new appliances. wouldn't you know it that white Bosch dishwasher will never die...
