What was this forum like pre-pandemic? Equally nutty? Helpful? Informative? |
It was heavily dominated by Fairfax parents and at one point, pretty obsessively about their gifted track (AAP) which is why the forums keep splitting. For non-Fairfax parents pre-covid, it was a lot about school boundaries and the other stuff that Arlington parents flip their shit over. Sometimes helpful, I guess. |
I can't answer, sorry.
But if you spent much time on the different school forums, MoCo and DC and Nova, you'd get a feel for the different areas and school systems and strengths and weaknesses. |
The PPs are correct. I will add that I think it has gotten crazier and there is a lot less decorum than there used to be. The level of vitriol against teachers is out of control. |
All of the above plus angry posts about boundaries. |
There was a lot of coded language from scared white people that there were/could be poor, brown kids attending a school with their own children. |
Well, one thing now unifies us. We are all sick of ventilation lady. |
Uh...not true. There are definitely more nut job parents now. Teacher haters. People who complain about EVERYTHING. People too childish to admit they were wrong. ![]() |

Just as weird in its own way. |
It's not better. |
Equally nutty about different topics. The actual level of vitriol is unchanged. |
Kind of how AEM was different but not really all that different. |
People always use the anonymous forum to air some of their crazy.
But I have found that while this forum can be totally nutso (same with AEM) you get nuggets of helpful information, so I keep coming back. I like to know the opinions you might not see on AEM, though that doesn't mean I agree with everything. I find real life is never as extreme as here or AEM on any topic. Most parents aren't paying nearly as much attention as the small cohorts that exist on the internet. |
