I have a fierce craving for a mango lassi, can anyone recommend one they’ve had in the NoVA area? Preferably in the Fairfax/Vienna/Tysons area, but willing to drive a little further for something great!
A tried and true recipe might do as well, for a second option |
Choolah out in Sterling has them. |
I love Choolah’s lassi.
If you want to stay close to home, go to any Indian restaurant. Amma’s Jaipur Haandi Bansari Bombay Tandoor They’re all near Tysons |
Blend Alphonso mango pulp with whole milk yogurt, add a teeny bit of ground cardamom and sugar to taste if needed. Add whole milk to thin to your liking. Garnish with saffron if you’re feeling decadent. |
A non-restaurant option -

Oh MAN. I have a craving now too! But also an answer. This place is great! |
I just do Kefir, frozen mango pulp if we don’t have fresh and a dollop of rosewater. |
Kefir, frozen mango, spiced to taste (cinnamon / cardamom / ginger / nutmeg / cloves). |
This. It’s very easy to make it. |

I think this person is Indian, as am I. I would use buttermilk rather than yogurt and add some lemon juice to taste. |
I never thought to add buttermilk! (not the OP and I am not indian, but my recipe is similar to the above. I have used mango pulp and whole milk yogurt. I will try this! I love mango lassi when I make spicy curry food. it helps with the heat. |
Mango lassi is easy to make. Fruit smoothies ate easy to make. |
If you're in the Alexandria part of Fairfax County then there are two great Indian restaurants that have Mango Lassi -- Dishes of India in the Belle View Shopping Center and Taj of India on Richmond Highway. |
Not a mango lassi lol but if you ever go to Gong Cha in Rockville, and order the Mango smoothie, it tastes exactly like a Mango Lassi. No added sugar necessary. |
