Need a "non-Karen" haircut for chin length hair that I'm growing out

Anonymous
I am growing out a short pixie cut, with the goal of shoulder skimming hair. Right now it's around chin length, but all different lengths because I'm growing out such a short cut. I've trimmed it in back a little to avoid a mullet, but need to get a proper haircut this spring so that it has better shape and to maintain health as I grow it out.

The problem is that when I look at haircuts for my hair length, they all look like that classic white-lady Karen cut -- lots of angled bobs with side parts. I don't want a talk-to-the-manager cut.

Is there a mid length cut that doesn't look like this? I feel like it will help when my bangs are fully grown out but right now they are still at about eye length and it's contributing to the overall Karen feel. Also, my hair is mid-weight and mid-volume, with some big waves but no curl. And it's dark blonde with streaks of gray.

Any ideas? Or do I just have to accept that I look like everyone's loathed middle-aged white lady neighbor until I can grow it long enough to do something better with it?

There isn’t any. I got extensions. Loved my pixie but the mom lob is the death of sexy. Extensions bridged the gap till it’s long on its own. Pricey but with good maintenance (every 8 weeks) they last two years.

Karen is here.

I like angled bobs. They can look chic and perfect for growing out various lengths of a pixie.

The Karen aspect comes in when you spike the back a la Kate Gosselin. Or stripey highlights.

Angled bobs can look really good a bit longer though. I think the Karen haircut is typically spiky in the back with blonde or red highlights, so maybe avoid that. You could try wearing hats or scarves as it grows out and look very chic. Or get a wig even.

These are cute

When you style it wavy it looks more modern.

Why not a little non-angled French Bob?

Skip the harsh stacking or spiking in the back. Depending on your hair texture, have some layers cut in, and then style it wavy or muss it up a bit. Let it have a bit of movement. Avoid chunky highlights.

I can’t imagine walking around all day with such meanness in my heart. And for the record, my hair is past my shoulders and my name is not Karen. This is just the disgusting mean girl behavior most adults outgrow by their early 20s. OP, focus more on your spirit and less on your appearance. No haircut can fix ugly.

Another +1. Maybe trying ot be edgy and clever but really off putting tone. Reads like self loathing misogyny with a hint of ageism. Seriously, love yourself! It's only hair. It will grow. This phase is temporary.

OP here. I was really not trying to be mean. I am a middle-aged white woman. My hair used to be long and then has been in a pixie for years, and now I'm in this in-between place and don't know what to do. I have seen a ton of criticism of middle-aged white womens' appearance lately, and especially this specific angled bob haircut, because of the whole Karen thing. I know that criticism is misogynistic, but that doesn't mean I want to walk into it. I'm looking for a haircut that makes me feel good about myself, not something that reminds me of memes about racist women. I know that's frustrating -- women should just be able to wear our hair how we want! But the truth is that people judge us for how we look, and I want to avoid any judgment that makes people think I'm racist or small-minded (or unattractive, for that matter).

Anyway, I actually really like this cut below and think my hair is long enough to do it and has the right texture (most of the others from the link sent are too long -- my hair isn't there yet). Do people have opinions about how this will look on a white lady? Agree about avoiding the Kate Gosslin spiky hair thing, but this looks really soft and full, plus pretty easy to style.

I'm also experimenting with headbands which I think help a bit with my bang grow-out issue. Never thought I'd be a headband girl, but I'm desperate. My hair has been depressing me all year and is taking way too long to grow.
