GoFundMe for Soccer Trip

I noticed a GoFundMe to pay for an international soccer trip on my Facebook timeline. Have any of you actually donated to one of these? This one is interesting because the account often posts photos of their new house, private training sessions, elaborate gifts, and other things that make me think it’s odd they would ask for people to donate for their daughter to go on an international soccer trip that’s appears to cost a small fortune. I don’t know if the trip is with their club but I have not noticed any of the other parents in the club post anything.

I have seen people do that and get eviscerated. that family may be in for a rough ride with the comments coming their way.
International soccer trips for your kid are a luxury product and people don't take kindly to gofundme asks for luxury products.

I donate to medical GOFundMe all the time. I would never in my life donate to an international soccer trip - even if it were family

Lots of people would like to take all kinds of trips. Choose one for your kid that you can afford instead of asking other people to pay for a fancy trip.

Go fund me is for emergencies - medical, shelter, food, funerals, etc.

Go Fund Me is often used as a convenient way to fundraise for school or sports trips from friends and family. I see Go Fund Me as a software platform.

ok. sports trips are about making money for the youth sports industrial complex. support it if you want. I see no reason to travel internationally (or domestically) to play sports, Travel gives the opportunity to do things you can't do at home - not just the same old same old in a different place.

I wouldn't donate anything to fund someone else's experience but I can assure you that traveling to play teams from other countries and for a young player to experience both the general culture and soccer culture of that country is not the same as FCV vs Arlington at Long Bridge Park.

I love how a certain guy from SYC always sends out mass emails to help send his U9s to Texas and stuff for tournaments because the kids can't afford it. Here's an idea....there's no reason to take U9s to Texas for a soccer tournament...especially if they can't afford it!

You mean to tell me you came across someone’s private Facebook page and find a go fund me that they were advised to set up for friends and family to donate and can’t just scroll along if you don’t like it? How did you come across this? Because you’re “friends with them on Facebook” then come on here to anonymously talk shit? Why are you on their Facebook if you’re just a two faced POS? You’re telling me if your baby was given an amazing opportunity you wouldn’t do everything thing you can do send them? Sounds like you’re a bit jealous to me. Unless you know this person and what they’re going through then shut your judgmental mouth, Better yet let’s put your grade school knowledge to use “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all”
No wonder there is such an epidemic with online bullying in this nation, the children learn it from their parents!

Hey!! Go fund me parent here! Sad I had to get a call from a friend to let me know that someone went out of their way to open a whole page on this topic... some of you are so pathetic that you sit just waiting to gossip because your life is so empty... what’s even more interesting is that my Facebook page is private so the person posting this is “my FB friend” only a couple handfuls jealous enough of a teen to actually spend any time posting something like this. So to the two faced anonymous poster who cares so much here is how the GoFundMe page came to be! Yes, I do co-own my own company and up until Covid we had been doing amazing! But in this last year we have been holding on by a thread... so in order to continue with what my children need and to continue on providing every opportunity I got a second job at nights... so that’s how I provide for the “extras”... When the call came in for my daughter to play Internationally we where upfront (already turning down a second opportunity in Paris for her to play at an academy do to money) We spoke for a good hour on what this could do for her and the connections she will be meeting with in Sweden to jump start her playing in the future. After the conversation they offered half the scholarship and gave us ways we could fundraise to earn the other half... (which I have never done nor wanted to do, why? Because this right here) hence the GoFund me page and other fundraisers we will be doing outside. The go fund me page was only attended for my close friends and family but people have shared who loves our daughter and our family. Keep it moving for anyone else as it doesn’t really effect you one way or the other, right? I am usually the one who gives to anyone in need and I will do it without question and never even think about asking why they need it or be so ignorant to gossip about it on a pathetic anonymous form. If you don’t want to give or it somehow bothers you, that’s your own issue. This is a great opportunity for your “friends” daughter so shame on you for posting this and trying to start sh** but if you must try to make sure that you spread some truths.
I work 2 jobs and am trying to start a third to not only provide for my family but take care of my parents one of who was just diagnosed with cancer and lives with me, I am making sure they are also fully supported too. We weren’t going to go but the International coach gave us half the money and gave us 2 ways to pay for the other half.
Lastly, don’t fool yourself.. you posting, sitting and waiting for gossip on these type of forms is not only pathetic but.. what was that word you used? Oh yes tacky.... yes you are correct you aren’t tacky at all... I am sure you will find away to continue to justify why you couldn’t just come to me yourself but the truth is you are just trying to fill some void. And I will take it! I will take all the hate! Because if I have people in my life that live my family enough to support this amazing opportunity I will keep on keeping on... but please remove yourself from my PRIVATE page or reach out so that at least we can have a real conversation face to face... i would absolutely love that! I will be waiting....
