Why the hell were unemployment benefits ever taxed at all? I swear to god this country loves to kick people while they're down.

So the people working to pay your unemployment benefits should be taxed, but you should sit at home doing nothing and pay no tax. That would work out really well for society.

Thank you!!! So many people are making more on unemployment than when they worked and now no taxes????

Everyone forgets that there are people still working who don't make a lot, and could definitely use an extra $600/$300 dollars a week even at 1/2 salary but don't because -- they are working and -- paying taxes.

Is this retroactive thru 2020 or only going forward?

What an uninformed comment.

" The people paying your unemployment benefits " ... ummmm... we all pay a tax for this all out working lives through our employer.

So, no, " you" have NOT and are NOT paying for " those people" to get unemployment- rather, your employer is paying , per every employee, including YOU
so that - if you ever need it in say 20 years , it is there.

Don't be such an A*s
