Electric oven element broke -- okay to use stovetop?

Anonymous
My electric oven heating element just broke/sparked out. Is it okay to use the stove top to finish dinner? Or is it a carry out night?

I don’t see why you can’t use the stove top. I would cover the oven control with a piece of tape to remind me not to turn it on.

I actually duct taped the oven door shut as I was not certain about electrical hazards. The occasion when this happened there was a big meal to cook, although not started. Used a very large electric skillet deep enough to use for pot roast etc) and a slow cooker. Whatever works, depends on what you're cooking.

I went through a long stretch with no stove when we first got this house. I made a lot of things, including individual size frozen pizzas in an electric skillet, discovered you can cook mac and cheese in the microwave, and so on. I did have a counter top convection oven which helped for roasting and baking.
