double oven vs oven with convection/microwave

Anonymous
I need to replace my double oven and am debating replacing it with an oven and microwave/convection oven above, in order to free up the counter space where my microwave lives. If you've had both, which did you prefer and why? Many thanks.

I use both ovens too often to give them up.

We have a laundry room just off the kitchen, and our microwave (which we use every other day, maybe?) sits on a shelf just inside the door.

Any possibility for something like that to free up counter space?

We have the one with the microwave in the double oven I love it. Mainly because it’s one less appliance on the countertop. I rarely use the double oven feature, but I use the microwave almost daily

We have a GE Profile and I initially thought I would use the microwave/convection oven a lot because a) it's smaller so might heat up more quickly and be more energy efficient, and b) it has a microwave/heat combo feature that's supposed to cook much better than microwave and much faster than an oven.

Alas, the hassle of removing the round turntable and replacing it with the metal turntable (to use it as an oven), and then switching back after using it as an oven, mean we very rarely use top as an oven, really only in rare situations.

We also have a kitchen in the basement so that can be a good backup oven if we need to do a turkey or something.

We also have a GE profile, but we use it all the time! I admit that I'm probably not using it to it's fullest capacity since I've never read the full instruction manual, but it's still nice to have the smaller oven, which does heat up much more quickly than the larger oven. It is a bit of a hassle to remove the glass turntable and replace it with the metal, but we have an easily accessible place to store the metal turntable, so it isn't too bad.

Now that we redid the kitchen and have a double wall oven and a microwave drawer built in I would never go back to a single oven. I use the double oven many times a week and LOVE it.

I have a double wall convection ovens and have used both ovens simultaneously more than I thought I would. You can always add a microwave somewhere else since they just need a plug.

Another GE profile convection lover here. I use it as an oven the 4-5 times per year I need a second oven (pre covid). The rest of the time it is a microwave.

I’d do anything to get the microwave off the counter.
